BAR CART STYLIN’
with Society Social

Today I’m so excited to be a “Real Society Social” girl with one of my besties! You may remember just recently I shared photos of her dining room and kitchen that I helped to remodel for her. Well, we had more even fun together about a month ago when we got to pose for a photo shoot with her HOT python Draper bar table from Society Social. I can’t tell you how much it meant to me to see my friend sparkle and smile like she deserves! And what a blast for me to be able to style the whole shoot. Here are few snaps, but check out the full post on the Society Social blog today!

5TH BIRTHDAY
Afternoon Sweets Party

Today I get to share a few snaps from my daughter’s birthday party this past weekend! She had so much fun at the party, and of course I had a blast putting the party scheme together in pink, navy and red floral, gingham, stripes and polka dot patterns. Using an “Afternoon Sweets” theme, I enlisted the help of the fam to create a dessert table with cupcakes, cookies, macarons, lemon bars, brownie bites and cake balls. I even got to make flower arrangements with pink and red mini carnations, red tulips, and pink daisies (all supermarket flowers!).

Best part of all, my daughter got to help with details like replacing the ugly water bottle labels with cute little flower stickers, placing the cake balls into the paper flowers, and setting up the strawberry & chocolate milk station with plastic French milk bottles and stripey straws — perfect kid-friendly projects! She was so excited to be helping out with her big girl party…

5TH BIRTHDAY
Party Scheme

Happy Friday! I’m throwing my little girl a birthday party on Sunday afternoon, so I’d thought I’d share sneak peek at the scheme I’ve put together for it in navy, pink and red! Since her only requests were a bounce house and a chocolate cake (for herself…LOL!), I decided to go with an “afternoon sweets/cookies & milk” kind of theme. We’ll have cupcakes, macarons, brownie bites, cake balls, lemon bars, chocolate chip cookies, milk for the kids and coffee for the adults. I’ll be sure to take lots of photos (you know me!) and share them next week. Until then…

VAN CLEEF & ARPELS
Boutique Opening Event

I’ve been so busy the past few weeks that I have not had the chance to share this fantastic event I recently attended! You may remember I had the unique experience of attending a private gallery tour and dinner at the Bowers Museum to view the A Quest for Beauty: The Art of Van Cleef & Arpels exhibit. So it was such an incredible honor to then be invited to the reopening of the Van Cleef & Arpels South Coast Plaza boutique just a few weeks later. Surrounded by beautiful jewelry and beautiful people (like Kate Bosworth and Lisalla Montenegro – stunners!), serenaded by a string quartet, and served tray-passed Champagne is an excellent way to spend an evening! The redesigned space is plush and luxurious, with gray dupioni silks, silver leaf, crystal and chrome that enhance the exquisite art of Van Cleef & Arpels so well that I thought to myself, “time to redecorate!” A few of the highlights from the evening…

DINNER PARTY TABLE
Black, White, Pink & Gold

Happy Monday! Back to work for me, but I hope everyone enjoyed their Valentine’s Day celebrations! As I mentioned Friday, I got to dress up a friend’s table for a couples’ dinner party. I went with my usual black/white/gold theme and added in a touch of pale pink. A simple gold confetti “runner” and Kelly Wearstler “kiss” placecards (that I cut from my personal stationery) kept it festive and apropos for the holiday…

MERRY CHRISTMAS!
(& A Mini Meltdown)

Happy Christmas Eve! But let me apologize for being M.I.A. I’m sure I’ve lost most of you by now (I’m scared to look at the analytics!), but it was completely unexpected. My daughter ended up having a nasty stomach virus (that closed down her classroom), my husband has the flu (still), and at one point last week after having to cancel a very important meeting with new clients, sitting in the middle of my living room cleaning up vomit, feeling the weight of the world on me as the realization strikes that I’m going to be letting all of my clients down over the next week and not be able to accomplish much on my enormous Christmas to-do list…I had a mini meltdown.

But you know, it’s at these times that you really have to pull yourself together, accept it, figure out a plan of attack, and move on. Otherwise, you become immobilized and nothing will get done. And just when I let go of having to be/do everything for everyone, my daughter with a 102F fever is crying out to me because she’s so miserable, and you think to yourself, “Nothing else really matters right now.”

HOLIDAY PALETTE
Black, White, Pink, Gold, Silver

I’m definitely behind schedule but I’m bringing it full speed ahead from now until Christmas! I thought this palette of mine would be tough to gather together, but surprisingly there are bits and pieces and ideas everywhere to pull it off! I’m definitely going to try those D.I.Y. ombre candles and D.I.Y. clear glass ornaments with gold glitter. I’ll be sure to share the final results, but in the meantime…

CHRISTMAS CARD
5 Minute Photo Shoot

Although exhausted Monday after returning from Miami, I had to snap into action upon realizing that Christmas is but a mere two weeks away! What?! Cue me scrambling to get the house decorated, Christmas cards ordered, gift list updated…time for baking cookies? I don’t know if we’ll have time! Hence, yesterday morning I subjected my daughter to a quick photo shoot before school – literally, hanging a white sheet on the wall of the dining room, pulling out the camera, and handing her a prop that I picked up the day before at Target. Lights, camera, action!

DISCO GOURD
Have a Happenin’ Halloween!

This Halloween, I decided to put the par-tay in pumpkin with a little disco ball pumpkin…Studio 54 style! Last year, I did the 2-step, paint-and-stick D.I.Y. pumpkins, so I guess I thought I could outdo myself with a 1-step version. (Have I gotten really lazy with it or what?)

Nonetheless, hope you all have a (safely) wicked day and night!

PAPER GOODNESS
Kelly Wearstler Stationery

OMG OMG OMG…I’ve died and gone to paper heaven. I can already tell I won’t be able to control myself because Kelly Wearstler’s new collection for Paperless Post is everything I could have wanted and more. Ever since I closed my little stationery company, I have been looking/waiting/longing for contemporary, edgy, artsy stationery, and thankfully, Kelly Wearstler has filled this niche with her usual perfect panache. There are so many designs I want, I may have to make up events just so I can have every single one. Lots of parties in my future? These would be my first picks…
