L’s BIG GIRL ROOM REVEAL!
“Cute Bohemian”

small shop big girl room, cute bohemian, DIY canopy, vintage peacock headboard, John Robshaw bedding, Jonathan Adler, kantha ikat quilt, vintage yellow nightstand

It’s a long time coming, but hopefully worth the wait! If you’ve been following me for at least (ahem) a year, you know I’ve been slowly but surely working on transitioning my daughter’s nursery to a big girl room. While I didn’t want to have to get new of everything, I definitely wanted to tie in a “cute bohemian” theme somehow, some way. Lo and behold, with the help of an elephant lamp, a vintage peacock headboard, a D.I.Y. canopy, John Robshaw, Jonathan Adler, and a last-minute kantha ikat quilt purchase*, I was actually able to pull it off! My FIRLs Irene and Sabra came to the rescue to style and photograph the space, and I am THRILLED with the result, as is Leighton (clearly!). I hope you are too! Sources below…

With Mother’s Day coming up, I thought these photos of me and my little one in Napa modeling our coordinating Rikshaw Design kurtas were quite fitting! It was a picture perfect day at Silverado Vineyards overlooking the valley, and I’m thrilled my brother was able to snap a few shots for our first official mommy-and-me outfit post…

MOMMY & ME
Napa Packing List

small shop: mommy & me Napa packing list

Happy Friday! Tomorrow I’m off with my little girl to Napa for the weekend to celebrate my dad’s birthday. (I know, I know, Miami, Hawaii, Palm Springs, and now…Napa?!)  Believe me, I feel very lucky to have had so many wonderful travel opportunities this year! And planning a trip wardrobe is part of the fun, isn’t it? Here’s what I have in mind for the wee one and me…

D.I.Y. FAVOR BAGS
Bugs & Butterflies

Blogging later than usual because I wanted to share this little project that my daughter and I worked on last night for her birthday! Last year we made the same bags with an “animal” theme, and this year, I opted for “bugs & butterflies.” Whenever I make things like these, my friends ask me how?!  I honestly make it up as I go along, but I thought I could break it down here for those interested…

“The MomME Files” #1:
Dress to Impress Yourself

1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5

Motherhood begins when you first start trying to conceive a child. You make changes in your life for the sake of a little one, but often we as women neglect our own needs for years (some, a lifetime). I personally don’t think it needs to be so black and white, and I strive for balance — I know that I am a better role model for my daughter if I am happy and have my own sense of self going on. So although I blushed and chuckled when asked by readers about my post-baby beauty and diet “tricks”, I realized there are little things that I’ve done to give myself “ME” back (and I bet you have too!). And then I thought, hey, great series for the blog! So, welcome to the first installment of “The MomME Files”…

MODERN WHIMSY
Little Girl’s Room

Let’s kick off a fresh new year with this room by my very talented blog buddy, Elizabeth Sullivan of Modern 24/7. She created a little slice of pink heaven for her niece Lily. I am a big fan of Elizabeth’s style, and you can see why!

D.I.Y.
Bed Tent Canopy

This weekend I tackled a D.I.Y. for my daughter’s room, and it was SO easy, I had to share!

I searched for the idea initially on Pinterest, but then I couldn’t find any curtain panels that went with her room decor. So I decided to make my own, using a pair of $10 sheers from IKEA, some pom-pom trim from the local fabric store and a hot glue gun, for a project that cost under $40 total…

NEIMAN MARCUS
+ Target, Tomorrow!

We’ve been talking about it for months, and it’s finally here! TOMORROW, the designer collaboration between Neiman Marcus and Target launches in store and online, just in time for the holidays! In addition to donating $1 million to the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) in support of the American fashion design community, the two companies have recruited 24 CFDA designers to create limited-edition gift items, with most priced under $60. We’re talking real leather and silk, hand beading, hand-blown glass and 18K gold. Some of my faves:
