BLACK + WHITE
Kitchen + Breakfast Nook

Yesterday I posted a few dining room photos from my friend’s home that I’ve been helping to remodel (remember the “Neutral Texture” board from last year?). We pretty much stripped the place of its old honey-colored wood, cottage cheese ceilings and ivory tiling (ick), replacing it all with dark espresso floors, black trim and doors, and pale gray walls. In the kitchen, we went with white cabinets, white carerra marble countertops, a white subway tile backsplash, and tore down a few walls (and a fluorescent light box in the ceiling – yikes!) to open up the spaces even more. The difference is dramatic! What was once a dingy 1970′s nightmare is now a refreshing light-filled dream…

SWEET ENDINGS
Valentine’s Day Fondue

Happy Valentine’s Day! Hope you’re doing something fun today, with fun people! A friend of mine is hosting a dinner party, and I’m in charge of table decor and dessert. For the latter, I thought I’d make two chocolate fondue recipes and bring lots of yummy dippers (I definitely want to try bacon!)…

VOGUE CAFÉ
at Printemps Haussman Paris

Vogue Paris’ pop-up Hugo & Victor patisserie at retailer Printemps Hausmann steals the Fashion Week pre-show with its pretty in pink paneled walls, 1970′s brass and chrome pieces, and Vogue cover prints from the past. It’s a fun little maison-away-from-maison for the foodie fashion lover…

RECIPE
Cappuccino Thins

(a.k.a. my most favoritest cookie recipe ever)

Here’s a post I meant to put up before the holidays, but it’s such an amazing cookie recipe that I can’t NOT share it with you. (That would be greedy of me, and I’m a giver.)

As with all my best recipes, I got this one from my mom. Not only does it include coffee, cinnamon and chocolate, you can freeze the logs for up to six months, cutting off pieces to bake a few at a time as needed. Don’t feel too bad though if you end up eating it all. They are amazing, after all…

RECIPE
Lamb Sliders with Goat Cheese & Yogurt Cucumber Sauce

The weather’s chillier, tailgate season is in full swing…time for some good ol’ comfort food! My brother and his family recently moved down here to So Cal, and it’s been so much fun getting together with them to watch college football (Go Bruins!). On one particular game day, he and his wife made lamb sliders with a delish yogurt cucumber sauce, and I made sure to take careful notes (and photos — yes, they laughed at me!)…

BOOK ART
Ideal Bookshelf

If you’ve been following this page for a while, you know I have somewhat of a problem…I cannot seem to collect enough fashion and design books! To perhaps help cure my compulsion, Ideal Bookshelf by artist Jane Mount may have to come to my rescue: paintings of our favorite reads covering a variety of subjects. Are you as excited as I am about the possibilities?! Great gift idea, you can commission the artist for a custom painting, or simply satisfy your bookworm cravings with a $28 print like these…

I SURVIVED
My First Juice Cleanse
(and You Can Too!)

5 REASONS WHY IT’S TOTALLY WORTH IT

In my last “MomME Files” post I mentioned I was going to kick off my summer with a 3-day juice cleanse from Ritual Wellness. I just completed it and have to say, it was easier than I thought! Granted, I don’t eat a lot of junk as it is, and when I do, I do it right (gourmet burgers and microbrews for me!). But even still, here are my five reasons why doing a juice cleanse was definitely worth my while…

“The MomME Files” #2:
Work It Out, Work It In

Happy Friday! It’s going to be a beautiful weekend here — officially the start of summer, woo hoo! But seeing how May is Women’s Health Month, I figured a diet and exercise post dedicated to all you moms and busy women out there was definitely in order!

I am often asked how I got back in shape, post-baby — I’m here to tell you, I have no idea. Kidding! Seriously though, it’s nothing drastic, and forever a work in progress. I ran track and played collegiate soccer so I’ve always been fairly active, but when I hit 30, my metabolism slowed big time. Fast forward “a few” years later, two knee surgeries, a baby, and suddenly I realized: there really isn’t going to be a “perfect” time to take better care of myself, so I might as well start somewhere. What did I/do I do? I’m by no means a personal trainer or nutritionist, but here’s some of what has worked for me… and as always, I’d love to hear what works for you!
