A BRAND STORY
Part II: The Tipping Point

And then I decided to decorate my house…

Last week I shared how I got my start 11+ years ago, so today I thought I’d continue that story with what seemed to be a tipping point for me, because it has not been simply smooth sailing! That said, I do think it’s true that when faced with adversity, you have to adjust, evolve, refocus and keep moving forward (because, really, what other option do you have?)…

A BRAND STORY
Part I: How I Got My Start

Ponte Family Estate

It all started more than ten years ago with a green barn (and yes, that barn is still green!)…

Back in that same year, I got engaged and then got laid off (talk about a major high and a major low!). My fiancé got into grad school and suddenly we were getting married and moving to New York – young, optimistic, with big dreams about life in the big city. But after hitting the pavement hard and going to one interview after another for unfulfilling, soul-crushing jobs, I was definitely starting to feel the reality check hitting hard too. I began to ask myself and this big city (fist in the air!), where were all the big opportunities? And then it dawned on me: the opportunity I had been looking for was already right in front of me…

PROFILED
on The Everygirl!

In case you missed it, yesterday I had the amazing honor of being profiled on The Everygirl! They did a tremendous job with the feature and I could not be more pleased. Head over there to read how I got my start, how I juggle mom/work/social/volunteer duties, and how I try to push myself forward. The response has been truly humbling and so encouraging!

INSTAGLAM
Tips & Tricks

Tip #1: Strike a pose! Several, actually…

Lately I’ve been attempting to use my Instagram account as a way to experiment and have fun with photo styling. To do so, I’ve been integrating a new bag of tricks. I think it’s all in the angle, cropping and effects, and here I’m sharing a few of my secrets (shhh!)…

WORK FUN
Client Photo Shoot

TGIF…all week I’ve been dealing with a painful scratched cornea (!) that has pretty much left me useless — there isn’t a whole lot you can do when you can’t see! But yesterday I had to squeeze in a photo shoot for my client a2 Communications Group before she went out of town, and it felt so good to be back! We had a blast together and I wanted to share a few quick snaps from the shoot….

RECENT PRESS
Luxe + The Boss Mag

Happy Friday! I wanted to give a quick shout out to a few print and online publications that have featured me recently! I feel so fortunate that I get to do what I love everyday, and that it means something to someone out there. It’s a ton of work to constantly make something of yourself on your own, but worth it when you feel like you’re connecting with people. I really have the best clients ever, and honestly, I can’t think of anything else I’d rather be doing as a day (and night) job!

CLIENT LOVE
Design Manifest

Today I have the pleasure of featuring a FIRL (“friend in real life”) and fave client’s work!! I had the opportunity to finally meet the talented Naomi last year in New York after following her interior design blog for two years. I’ve sung her praises here many times before, so it was an incredible honor that she and her father decided to work with me on the rebranding of their family-run company, Design Manifest. I thoroughly enjoyed collaborating with them on a new logo, new business cards, website and blog that would really showcase the totally unique style, expert eye, craftsmanship and execution that they bring to each and every beautiful project. Here is just one example…

PROJECT LAUNCH
Rebecca Atwood

I’m thrilled to announce the launch of a new project for a super talented and super sweet client! Rebecca Atwood is an artist and textile designer in New York that I’ve had the absolute pleasure of working with the past few months. To introduce her new line, we wanted to create a simple yet totally unique brand, website and online store that would complement her handmade, handcrafted products. Both of us could not be happier with the end result!
